UPSC Civil Service (Pre) Examination Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: A candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age: The candidate must be at least 21 years old and not older than 32 on August 1, 2024; in other words, the candidate must have been born between August 2, 1992, and August 1, 2003, at the latest.

Age Relaxation: For SC/ST applicants and OBC candidates, the maximum age restriction is relaxable by five and three years, respectively.

UPSC Civil Service (Pre) Examination Scheme

The Civil Services Examination will consist of two successive stages :

(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination; and

(ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts noted above.
