Assam Police Recruitment Eligibility Criteria / Education Qualification

Boatman: Candidates who have passed HSLC or equivalent from any recognized Board or Council. Candidates should have proficiency in swimming.

Constable (AB): Candidates who have passed HSLC or Class 10th from any recognized Board or Council.

Constable (UB): Candidates who have passed HS or Class 12th from any recognized Board or Council.

Constable (Communication): Candidates who have passed HS (Science) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board or Council. The Candidates must have obtained pass marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in the HS (Science) examination to apply for the post.

Constable (Carpenter): Candidates who have passed HSLC or equivalent from any recognized Board or Council and passed the prescribed ITI course in trade.

Constable (Dispatch Rider/Messenger): Candidates who have passed HSLC or equivalent from any recognized Board or Council and must possess a valid driving license for LMV, MMV or HMV.

Constable (Craft Instructor): Candidates who have passed HSLC or equivalent from any recognized Board or Council. Certificate in Bamboo and Cane work/ Tailoring/ Weaving/ Soap making from ITI or such other recognized Institute.

Driver Constable: Candidates who have passed HSLC or equivalent from any recognized Board or Council and must possess a valid driving license for LMV, MMV or HMV.

Grade IV: Candidates who have read up to Class 8th in a recognized School or Institution are eligible for this recruitment. The maximum qualification will be HSSLC or Class XII passed from a recognized Board or Council. Also, candidates will need to have diplomas in respective trades where applicable.

Safai Karmachari: Candidates who have read up to Class 6th in a recognized School or Institution are eligible for this recruitment. The maximum qualification will be HSSLC or Class XII passed from a recognized Board or Council.

Sub Inspector (UB): Candidates who have a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Commerce, Science or equivalent stream from a recognized College/ Institution affiliated with a recognized University are eligible.

Medical Standards

Candidates must not be color blind, have banged knees, flat feet, or squint their eyes. A temporary disqualification will be given for varicose veins. They need to be in good physical and mental health. They must be free of any physical defects as well as any illnesses including diabetes, heart disease, hernia, piles, respiratory illnesses, or any other condition that could hinder the effective discharge of their tasks. Without correction, the distance vision should be at least 6/6 in one eye and no worse than 6/9 in the other. Normal near vision is expected.

Assam Police Recruitment Selection Process

The Assam Police Constable Recruitment selection procedure is described in this section; candidates are urged to review the official advertising for information on additional positions. Candidates must pass the Physical Standards Tests (PST) and Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) if they submit accurate online applications in all respects. Any candidate who has a physical defect that the medical officer on the selection committee can see will be disqualified from taking the remaining exams.

Preliminary Verification of Document

All original documents and a set of photostat copies of the documents must be verified before the candidate is permitted to appear in the PST and PET based on the eligibility requirements outlined above. Rejected candidates will be given a notice of rejection along with a justification for the decision. If a candidate ever presents false information or fabricated documents, he would be rejected and could face criminal charges.

It is possible to review a candidate’s original documents at any subsequent stage of the hiring process. Candidates must include a copy of any photostat they submit that has been duly authenticated. Each copy of such a document, in particular caste certificates and any other documents bearing marks, must be signed by the Chairman or a member of the Selection Board at the time of PST and PET in order to prevent manipulation at a later time.

Physical Standard Test

The candidates must show up for the PST (Physical Standard Test) after all the documents have been verified as being accurate. It has no markings. With the aid of modern technology, candidates’ height, weight, and chest size are measured, and after that, preliminary examinations of the candidates’ knock knee, vision, color blindness, flat foot, varicose veins, physical deformities, and other conditions are performed. A candidate must then show up for the PET (Physical Efficiency Test) after passing the PST.

> A Candidate gets eliminated from the recruitment process as soon as he/she fails to qualify in any event during PST or PET. 

> Candidates shall have no claim or right to appear in the Written Test merely on the ground that they secured the minimum qualifying standards in the PST and PET. 

> After completion of the PST and PET for all the Candidates, merit lists for each category as per vacancies will be prepared on the basis of the total marks scored on PET converting it into percentage. 

> Candidates will be called for the Written Test in order of merit at the rate of 5 (five) times the number of posts allotted in respect of each category.

Written Test

There will be no negative marking in the written test, which consists of 100 multiple-choice questions to be answered on an OMR answer sheet. The questions will be at the class IX and X levels. The total number of marks is 50. The question paper will be in the following languages: Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, and English. For each correct response, the candidate will receive half a mark.
